Software Architect

Acro Media, a Web design firm, is looking to add a software architect to the Web Development team. This person will have a thirst for digging for details and requirements from our clients while keeping the developers on track to achieve the big picture of the entire project.

The successful applicant will go through a trial period during which they will demonstrate their leadership, communication and requirements gathering qualities. Responsibilities will include the decomposition of work for projects, creating and maintaining requirement documentation throughout the life of a project, providing direction to developers, researching new technologies, meeting with clients and assist with the continuous refining of development life cycle and planning documentation processes at Acro Media.

Traits a successful software architect will:

  • Be an effective communicator
  • Know how define and present requirements which are understandable by the client and useful to the developers and QA
  • Have at least 5 years experience as a software developer
    • PHP
    • C/C++
    • Linux
  • Have strong understanding and practice of creating and maintaining requirements documentation such as:
    • Software visualizations
    • UML
    • Data definitions
    • Software feature/specification documents
  • Have strong understanding of project development life cycle methodologies
  • Have strong time management skills
  • Have experience developing work break down structures and build schedules
  • Be able to understands the business domain of the client
  • Have user guided design experience
  • Have excellent understanding of Web development and related technologies
    • W3C compliant XHTML & CSS
    • AJAX / JavaScript
  • Respect the role each department plays in a project
    • Know when to ask for help

Experience in the following areas will be an asset:

  • Project management
  • Drupal development
  • Using Axure to develop software visualization
  • Flash / Flex development
  • Experience with Photoshop
  • Leadership training
  • Leaping tall buildings in a single bound (two bounds ok)

Software Developer - Managed Services

The Managed Services Web Application Programmer is responsible for:

  • Producing high quality work adhering to Acro Media standards and following the Acro Media production process
  • Working independently on multiple tasks with shifting priorities and tight deadlines
  • Adhering to and providing accurate estimates for the amount of time required to repair a defect, or to add additional functionality to an existing application
  • Providing creative solutions in a timely manner for work requests, issues, and defects.
  • Communicating well with Account Managers and Clients in regards to work requests, issues and defects.
  • Acting as both a peer / mentor to other developers as well as be comfortable asking for help from team members
  • Recommending improvements to the department policy & process.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Strong understanding of software development best practices
  • Ability to troubleshoot bugs and issues with existing code and then formulate a solution that can be implemented in a timely manner
  • Experience with an integrated development environment (IDE), a plus if prior experience with Eclipse
  • Familiar with multiple programming languages including, but not limited to:
    • C/C++
    • PHP
    • JavaScript (jQuery a plus, but is not mandatory)
    • ActionScript
    • SQL
  • Comfortable working in a Linux shell to do day-to-day tasks
  • Understanding of Web sites developed on Apache and MySQL
  • Prior experience with a source control system (CVS)
  • Prior experience with Drupal and other CMS systems
  • Formal, software development education from an accredited college/ university, or equivalent experience.
  • Have 1 – 2 years experience working with a Web development firm

Web Marketing Specialist

Acro Media—an established Web media company—presents a great opportunity to join our interactive agency.

With boundless energy and exceptional talent in interactive marketing, you will help Acro Media’s clients reach their online goals through:

  • Identifying business objectives and developing plans and budgets to achieve those objectives.
  • Administering online brand building and marketing campaigns.
  • Conducting usability studies and defining needs requirements.
  • Developing information architecture and content plans.
  • Managing online and offline marketing materials.
  • Overseeing paid marketing (e.g. PPC) and SEO initiatives.

Your education and/or experience must include:
