Bike to Work Week takes place every spring across the province of British Columbia. The mandate? Get people cycling to work! Simple, right? Only as simple as your software solution.
Bike to Work Week’s online experience was frustrating with capital F#@$&! Their antiquated and cumbersome system was difficult for participants and administrators alike, taking significant training and resource time. The whole site had to go, and a new route to success had to be mapped out!
With various administrative needs required for each community, team leader, team mate, and rider, Acro Media had to get down and dirty to come up with a solution that would serve each intended user of the site.

Acro pinpointed 3 key solutions for this project:
1) Provide the BTWBC team with a more intuitive, robust, and easy to use Content Management System (CMS) setup, enabling each community to post and update event and stats content to their regions.
2) Allow riders and team leads to login to the site, generate a dynamic and safe route to work using Google Maps, and log their km's through the site to count towards their team.
3) Major Mobile! BTWBC wanted the program to have an app feel – a quick and easy way to make and reference a route from your phone, plus the ability to swiftly log your ride through the same solution.
BTWBC’s glossy new site adapts to any sized device from desktop to handheld. But it’s not just a pretty face; Within the first month of the site being live BTWBC has seen a 15% increase in visitors and a 111% increase in visit duration. Cyclists across the Province are joining the pack and logging into the site for all of their mapping needs. Thanks BTWBC for bringing a smart green initiative to the communities in beautiful BC, and allowing Team Acro to be a part of it – we will see you on the asphalt in our Spandex.
